Year 10 Business studies trip to British Airways

On Tuesday 8th of February, Mr Humphreys, Mrs Khan and Mrs Dyett took 17 Year 10 Business studies students to the British Airways headquarters at Heathrow for a day.
The aim of this trip was for the students to explore and review the British Airways´ website www.ba.com, and in particular, to consider how the website benefits the business.

Prior to attending, students completed the pre-course task to familiarise themselves with the website. The course began with the students being treated to a simulated flight to New York. Following this, a very interesting presentation about the history of British Airways was provided. Students then focused on exploring the way technology has and is influencing the airline booking process. Just before lunch students were given a fascinating tour of the British Airways headquarters.

After lunch a discussion was conducted of the different things that can be done on www.ba.com, which was followed by a review of its usability, marketability and finally its functionality for customers.

At the end of the visit, groups of students prepared presentations on their ideas of how to improve www.ba.com, which they then presented to other students. Everyone was delighted with their day out and the new skills they had learned.
