White Lodge Royal Ballet School students visit Hampton Academy

On Friday 25th March, 24 Year 10 students from The Royal Ballet School came to visit our Year 10 students at Hampton Academy. Both sets of students have been working on a joint project provided and led by The Royal Ballet School. The project has been working toward a joint piece of choreography. The students have been sharing ideas,  learning and leading one another; all part of the process of coming together to share experiences and good practice.

The Royal Ballet School visitors arrived at Hampton Academy at 11.00am and went to the Studio 1 to take  part in a team building dance activity with our students.  This was  organised by Ms Wasley and was a good way for the students to meet one another.   This was followed by some more ‘ice breaking´in the Theatre; this time drama with Mrs McCormack.  After lunch and some time to talk, the last session of the day was a Salsa class led by Lee Robinson.  The students from both schools were able to learn about the differences in their education systems and they all enjoyed meeting new people through fun team building and bonding activities.

All students thoroughly enjoyed their day and all were inspired by the lessons they had from the Performing Arts Team. Thank you to Claire McCormack and Lee Robinson for their planning and delivery of lessons. Students from both schools have bonded well and have made good friendships.

As part of the project, every Wednesday after school, our students have been working on creative material and rehearsing dance pieces ready for performances at White Lodge on 20th and 21st May 2011.
