Teacher exchange trip to Mivukoni

Over the Easter holidays as I´m sure many of you know, Mr Edmead and I had the privilege of heading to Kenya to complete the return visit of a teaching exchange. The exchange started in December last year when two teachers from our partner school Mivukoni came to visit!

Although we came back with a pretty good tan this wasn´t a holiday, Mr Edmead and I spent our trip observing and even teaching lessons as well as designing lessons and whole units of work.

There was of course some time to relax and our hosts were very kind to send us on safari!!!

The pupils at the school put on a traditional Kenyan dance performance, and of course we couldn´t help but join in!!

Some of my other highlights included Making a traditional meal, playing volley ball with the students and going to the Nairobi reptile zoo!!

Mr Edmead enjoyed planting a commemorative tree at Mivukoni, visiting Nairobi museums and seeing Australopithecus robustus, and meeting some great people!

We were treated so kindly and experienced so many amazing things we both found it hard to leave! Leaving though meant that Mr Edmead and I could get started on the next phase of the partnership, working hard to ensure strong links with Mivukoni and using the partnership to help to benefit both schools.

We know that this partnership will offer lots of opportunities for both schools!
