Staff Spelling Bee

In order to promote the importance of spelling and raise money for our partner school in Kenya, Mivukoni Secondary School, Ms. Stanbridge organised a staff spelling bee.

Students each paid a contribution to watch the event that took place during lunch times in the last week of term.

Over £200 was raised for Mivukoni and, equally importantly, so was the profile of the importance of spelling. Students completed spelling games where they were taught spelling strategies in English lessons that week as part of the event.

Next year, students in Conrad and Wordsworth colleges will be competing in a student spelling bee... time to buy new dictionaries in preparation for the start of the autumn term!
