Protons for Breakfast Visits Hampton Academy!
Year 8 Scientists are enthralled with the lecture
We have been fortunate to be able to host a series of stimulating science lessons delivered by an expert scientist from the local National Physical Laboratory in Teddington.
Dr Michael de Podesta is a research physicist - and is well known amongst the science fraternity. He is an NPL "science ambassador" and is responsible for organizing and delivering the popular "Protons for Breakfast" course at the NPL, which is aimed to make Physics interesting and exciting to children - and their parents - click here for more details.
Wordsworth's Kelly H. meets the Doctor! (no, not that one)
Michael was awarded the MBE in 2009 for his services to science. He often gives "fun" science lessons at schools in the local area - and is in great demand! He also has a science blog here.
Michael agreed to give us a couple of days of his time on the 8th and 9th February - to enthuse our students with some of the wonders of science. This was a chance we could not afford to miss — and resulted with a total of 230 students experiencing a lovely series of presentations that was full of interest for our students — delivered, as usual, with lots of fun demonstrations and with Michael´s huge passion for science.
A fantastic couple of science days! Thank you Dr de Podesta.Mr. P. Edmead
