I can´t believe it´s been just over a year since we were thinking about what to do with the old HCC uniform, whether it was donating it or recycling it. After all on the 20th May the hard work we put in, with the help of Mr Collins and the charity Planet Aid, on the 20th May we donated huge boxes of uniform items to a school in Malawi. Making it all happen took a lot of organisation, like putting up posters, getting in touch with the charity ‘Planet Aid', getting news out to the newspaper and making sure all the students knew what was going on. On the 23rd July 2010 all the students´ brought in their uniform, including the P.E kit, it was a very hectic morning. As soon as the bags had piled up at the students entrance it had to be rushed off to the hall. In the hall it was neatly folded into separate items of clothing then packed into boxes. It was a very successful day, we received so much clothing it was unbelievable and it was great to see that not only the students knew about it, but the parents did as well and that everybody was able to get involved one way or another. It took quite a bit of the day for my class to get it all sorted but it was definitely worth it. Although the uniform wasn´t sent off straight away, it was sent. It was great fun loading all the boxes onto the van with my friends/helpers (Nikita, Ruth, Jagoda) and knowing that finally the uniform was going someplace better to help kids who are not as fortunate as us. |

It was great to see how my small idea in the form of a letter to Dr Demont sprang into action and began to make progress. It was a great way to end HCC. All in all this was a great experience, especially working with a charity and knowing your helping others.
