‘Old Vic, New Voices´

The year 11 GCSE Drama class participated in their second ‘Old Vic, New Voices´ workshop and performance session. The project offers the students the chance to have a skills based workshop with two professional practitioners from the prestigious Old Vic Theatre, and later visit the theatre itself to watch the production that they have explored during the workshop. The Year 11 Drama GCSE class really extended their skills and are learning a great deal from the ongoing project.

Miss Arthur, Assistant Programme Leader: Drama

On the 9th Feb, two practitioners from the Old Vic Theatre came to run a workshop based on the play ‘A Flea in her Ear´. During this workshop we worked on a number of Drama skills such as improvisation and characterisations. I found this very useful as later that evening we went to the Old Vic Theatre to watch the play which we had done the workshop on. I found that I understood the play a lot more after taking part in the workshop. I knew about the plot and the characterisations. Overall I feel that the ‘Old Vic, New Voices´ workshop is a great project and I am looking forward to the next one.

"It was our second workshop and performance that we have attended as part of the 'Old Vic, New Voices' project. In my opinion, the whole experience of Year 11's having a workshop with professionals is very inspiring as we learn through fun and enjoyment."
