World Book Day success for the ‘Hanworth Road set´

For several years now we have had a successful collaboration with Hampton and Lady Eleanor Holles schools on the Carnegie Medal shadowing scheme. On Wednesday 2 March a team of students representing all three schools went to Kingston Library to compete against a team of students from Kingston schools in a Kids´ Lit Challenge, as part of World Book Day celebrations.  We are very pleased to report that the ‘Hanworth Road set´, as they became known, won the day! The students, many of whom had not met before, worked very well together as a team, answering questions on their set books and on their general knowledge of literature. Congratulations and well done to our team members - David Aylward, Peter Bell, Jessica Boreham, Zoë Dennison, Annabel Hoseason, Jordan Sellers and James Thatcher.
“It was good to team up with the other students, we were able to share our knowledge and everyone had a chance to answer the questions." James Thatcher, 8WM

“I enjoyed being in the team and look forward to meeting the other students again when we start the Carnegie shadowing. Also, it was great to browse the books in Kingston library!" Jordan Sellers, 8WH

The Carnegie Medal shortlist for 2011 will be announced on April 1st. Students who are interested in shadowing the award should see Mrs Duane.

We are actively encouraging students to keep up their reading habit to achieve individual success on AR.
