Music students visit the Royal Festival Hall

In the autumn term a group of music students attended a Sunday concert at the Royal Festival Hall given by the Philharmonia Orchestra and its ebullient conductor Leif Segerstam. We spent some time on the South Bank as the weather was so nice before going inside to enjoy the concert. The highlight was Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition. The final section was called 'The Great Gate of Kiev'  which year 9 percussionist Peter Bell described as "amazing" as the combined forces of huge cymbals and booming timpani drums drove the piece to its thunderous conclusion!
