Maths Week

28th November - 2nd December

We are delighted to announce the launch of Hampton Academy's inaugural Maths Week.

During this week students in Years 7-11 will be invited to participate in a range of events aimed at enhancing their understanding and enjoyment of mathematics. The events on offer outside of lessons include:

Monday:


Number Day


All staff will be wearing numbers and students have to collect these and then perform calculations with the names of staff members.  Top prize for the winning number of points.

Tuesday:


Maths in Fashion


Year 10 girls will be shown the importance and role maths has in the fashion industry.

Puzzle Day


During Maths lessons students will be solving problems and puzzles.

Tower Building Contest


At lunchtime teams will be competing to build the tallest and strongest towers out of just newspaper and sellotape.  Top prize for the winning team supported by Sainsbury's supermarket.

Thursday:


Maths Bee


At lunchtime staff will be competing in Maths Bee to see who can calculate the quickest.

Friday:


NSPCC World Record Attempt


Year 7 students will be taking part in a world record attempt for the largest maths lesson in multiple locations.  Students will be collecting sponsorship for the NSPCC.
