Let's Get Cooking!

On Friday 26th November 2010 Hampton Academy was the setting for the launch of the Richmond and Kingston section of the national network of cooking clubs known as Let's Get Cooking!

Many children from schools in the local area chopped, sliced, diced and liquidized their way through a myriad of healthy recipes to produce an amazing selection of soups, smoothies, crudités and much more ready for tasting at lunch time.

The aim of the lottery funded club is to teach children, parents and members of the wider community how to shop for and prepare healthy snacks and meals with the main emphasis on fun.

The launch day at Hampton Academy provided an excellent opportunity for the club co-ordinators to get together to show off their new skills, to swap ideas and gain confidence in running their clubs. The day was a huge success with all the club co-ordinators now fully trained and raring to get going and get cooking.
Thanks to Hampton Academy Club co-ordinators, Jane Cook (Teacher Learning Assistant) and Rebecca Wootton (Food Technology Technician) and the following students who kindly came to help on the day: Chloe Cooke Year 7, Sean Chapman  Year 8, Eszter Szabo Year 9,  Luke Deakin Year 10.
