Les Garçons -  French Theatre Visits Hampton Academy

Last week, 110 students from Years 11 and 10s along with our Year 9 dual linguists came to the French Theatre.

The play was performed entirely in — sometimes very fast — French. The actors used gestures, props, costumes and the drama itself to help the students understand. Some were directly involved in the action and had to pass messages in French between the characters!

The play was very funny and the students enjoyed it a great deal. It was impressive to hear the laughter from the audience; proof of the fact that they were understanding the play.

This is one of the best ways of motivating our students learning in languages. It is funny, immediate and has a lasting impact.
