Jack Petchey Speakout Challenge 2011

Yesterday two Hampton Academy students competed against students from Richmond and Merton schools in the Local Final of the Jack Petchey Speakout Challenge.

The 'Speakout Challenge!' is an annual event that involves 20,000 students from across London and Essex. Schools hold a school final and select students to represent them and compete against local rivals with the change to appear in the Regional and then Grand final.

Two Year 10 students, Anjali and Tristan, were selected to represent Hampton Academy following a successful performance in the school final.

With less than 24 hours notice, each student was able to write, rehearse and perform a persuasive speech in front of an audience of over 300 people at the Ricards Lodge High School in Wimbledon.

Although neither of our students achieved a top three place, they each received much praise from the judges and enjoyed the experience of meeting other Gifted & Talented students from neighboring schools and receiving more public speaking training and experience from Professional coaches.
