HAtv News Report:Year 8 Girls Football Final

The pace of the game was incredibly quick from the outset. Straight from kick- off, Hampton won the ball, and a good attempt by Alison C. nearly crept in at the front post, but the Grey Court ‘keeper made a good save. From then on Grey Court had the majority of the possession, but the Hampton defence stayed strong, with Grace G., Jasmine D. and Lucy O. putting in good performances. The Hampton defence held Grey Court at bay, until a good strike beat a goalkeeper on form, (Bella T.). As the game went on, Hampton got a bit more possession, but the half-time whistle went before they could make it count. "The girls played fantastically and were a credit to our school" Ms. Nuttall. The Hampton squad gathered round the two coaches, Miss Davidson and Miss Nuttall, and inspiring words were spoken, as a clearly changed Hampton side kicked off the second half. Hampton seemed to have a lot more possession than the first half, and were testing the Grey Court ‘keeper more, as Bella found herself less busy. Energy and confidence levels went through the roof, as Eliza J., Sian M., Caroline B. and Jody W. posed a threat to the Grey Court goal. But although Hampton had more possession , football is a two-team game; Grey Court were still playing some good football, and found a gap at Hampton's near post, making it 2-0 with 25 minutes to go. Although they had conceded again, Hampton were still working hard, and Olivia S., Rachel K. and Leaha M. were playing well. But Grey Court persisted with their football, and found another goal.

It looked glum for Hampton as the game went on, but faith was restored when Eliza J. scored a nice goal with her left foot. Possession had gone in Grey Court´s favour again, and as the full time whistle blew, the final score was Grey Court 3, Hampton 1. Thank you to Miss Davidson and Miss Nuttall for helping the team, which was Eliza J., Caroline B., Jasmine D., Lucy O., Grace G., Bella T., Sian M., Leaha M., Jody W., Olivia S., Rachel K. and Alison C.
