After a momentous year, which saw the transition from HCC to Hampton Academy, it´s full marks to the Class of 2011 and their teachers for achieving some great results despite all the changes taking place in our school.A record 70% of students gained 5 or more A*-C passes, just above the national average. 68% achieved a C or above in English and 53% in Maths, giving a total of 48% who achieved 5 with both — equalling last year´s results. Our E-Bacc total doubled from 8% to 16% (the national average last year was 15%) and 96% of all students achieved five or more passes at all grades — 4% above the national average, 14% above last year´s figure, and an indicator of a truly inclusive school.
Top performers were George Rutherford (5 A* and 5 A grades), Charlie Newton Savage (6 A*s and 3 As), Wiktoria Matusiak (4 A*s and 7 As), and Sarah Dennison, Norbert Wrobel and Luke Trevelyan (6 A* and 2 A grades each). Congratulations go to Charlie, Norbert, Tate Coles, Harry Birch and Sohrab Ghafari whose excellent results mean they have met the exacting selection criteria for Hampton School sixth form.
Wiktoria and Sarah were not the only high achievers amongst the girls: Diana Jaganjac achieved 4 A*s and 4 As and has earned a place at the highly selective Tiffin Girls School to study her A-levels. Diana´s A* in English Language is an outstanding achievement for a student for whom English is not her first language. Caroline O´Mahoney achieved a distinction in drama and an A* in Dance among her ten top grade passes, and is off to the prestigious Brit School for the Performing Arts. Daniela Cassiano Dos Santos also gained an A* in Dance (and eleven top grade passes overall) and is set to realise her dream of a professional career at the acclaimed Dance East Company based in Ipswich.
There were outstanding achievements at every level. Henry Buss, who has a statement of special educational needs, achieved 5 A*-C passes including a starred distinction in his BTEC Acting course. Mohammed Moalim overcame some significant issues to achieve ten GCSE passes including five at grade C and above. Suleiman Juma worked exceptionally hard to achieve a set of results way above his predictions, including 3 A* and 3 A grades.
The top performing subjects overall were Physics, Chemistry, Biology and History (each with over 40% of results at A or A*); German, Dance and English Literature. The proportion of A and A* grades across the board increased significantly, with the A* performance over a third higher than predicted by students´ prior attainment data.
