GCSE Drama Showcase Review

On Tuesday the 5th April, the GCSE Drama students performed their very first showcase of their exam pieces to friends and family in the audience. The showcase was a great success because of all the positive feedback that we got and the great feeling of relief that we felt at the end. The contrast of the piece kept the audience entertained and engaged for nearly two hours.

The showcase started with Harold Pinter´s famous play, the ‘The Birthday Party´, this brought us laughs and empathy for the characters. Also, we had an amazing performance from all the actors but especially Leo Collins and Luke Bailey for getting lots of laughs from the audience. The second piece ‘Brenton and Brenton brought even more laughter and cheeky grins from the audience where they enjoyed the spoog style American comedy. Also, ‘Black Comedy´ stole the show with a farce piece full of careful timing and great energy. To finish the showcase we had the piece ‘Kindertransport´, which was a harrowing story of the Second World War that sent the audience on an emotional rollercoaster ride; which for some resulted in tears.

Overall the GCSE Drama students really enjoyed preparing and completing their pieces for the showcase and exam itself, which took place on Friday 8th April. We hope the practical exam  went equally as well as the showcase but we won´t know what the visiting examiner really thought until results day!
