On Thursday 3 February Ms Watts and Mrs Holtham took 25 Year 8 students to the BA headquarters at Heathrow for a Chinese Experience day. The students were first treated to a simulated flight to Beijing, complete with meal, before an hour-long Mandarin Chinese session. After a very interesting presentation on tigers and pandas, the students got to draw their own lion´s head, a popular decoration in the New Year period, and learned to paint the calligraphic character for “spring". Finally they watched an impressive lion dancing demonstration and everyone had a go at the choreography! Sadly it was then time to go but all were delighted with their day out and the new skills they had learned. |
