On Friday year 11 endured a mock exam results event in the library. We tried to create as close as possible what it will be like in the summer when they open those envelopes in August. It was quite easy to do as all students were receiving the actual GCSE English results they sat in November, some also had Maths and Science. As envelopes were torn open a real buzz was evident in the Library, students screamed and hugged each other when they realised they had achieved more than they thought possible. There were also some tears of regret as some grasped the harsh reality that they just didn't work hard enough. The message here though is that IT IS NOT TOO LATE.
Every year at this time we witness students changing their attitude towards their learning and really focusing on what they need to do and using the opportunities they are given to get the best possible results that they are capable of.
I am so proud of my year group, already they have exceeded the academy target grade for English and I have every confidence that they will exceed their individual targets and rise to the high standards that they demand of themselves.
The message that I give to them daily is that personal success will only be achieved through hard work, belief in your self and determination. You absolutely can do it Year 11...
