Thirty nine students from Year 7 visited Kingston University as part of the ‘AimHigher´ programme. This national initiative aims to widen participation in higher education by raising the awareness, aspirations and attainment of young people from under-represented groups. The children were introduced to the student ambassadors who were to host and organise their activities for the day. The ambassadors came from Croatia, Poland, Germany, the Caribbean and England. They ranged from a first year Civil Engineering student from Kent to a final year International Relations student from Croatia. The ambassadors engaged our students in a day of varied activities which included team building, a tour of the campus, lunch in the university canteen and culminated in the opportunity to design and create their own university! Six groups presented their designs to their peers who awarded marks on imagination, design and presentation. The winners received medals.
