'Bock and Roll!' a HA News Team Report by Gemma Holmes
Gemma Holmes reports on an exciting new sport called Bocking
In July earlier this year, Hampton Academy's sports day took place at St. Marys college in Twickenham. The student participated in many activities. One of them was a sport called Bocking. Under the tutelage of Mr Clive Holmes, the students got a chance to take part in Bocking. They also got to see a performance by my father, Clive; my sister, Hollie and myself — we are all experienced bockers. ![]()
Bocking is a sport on springy stilts that give you extra bounce. There are two different types of bocks or stilts: adult bocks and children´s bocks. Bocking is done by many people from around the world. On bocks you can jump over 7ft high, do many tricks (including flips), run more than 20mph and have fun. Bocking is also a great way to keep fit as it provides a cardio - vascular workout, allowing you to burn calories, tone, strengthen your body´s core muscles and lower cholesterol.
Run at more than 20 mphIf you want to find out more about bocking and perhaps even try a pair of bocks on, go to www.projumpforum.co.uk where you can see local bocking meets near you, chat to other bockers, join a bocking team, share videos and pictures, get tips, tutorials and much more. Bocks are available to buy online at www.pro-jump.co.uk and prices start at just £115. Safety gear and spare parts are sold there too. You can also pick up a pro-jump bocking card from me, Gemma Holmes, which will tell you more about bocking. ![]() Bocking is an exciting fun way to keep fit.
