Black History Month: Year 8 Assembly![]()
Report by HA News Team Members
Black History Month AssemblyThe assembly contained both Dance and Drama performances to show the ideas of one famous black American, Martin Luther King Junior. Our dance represented how black and white people used to be separated in terms of what schools they could attend, what public facilities they could use, and on which public transport they could travel. In this part of the dance we used lots of different formations to show the separation and people going in different directions. We also used different levels. A high level was showing the white people and the high status they tried to demand, and a low level was used to show how oppressed black people felt. At the end of our dance we looked at how things are now, and how people are seen as equal and work together more and team, rather than against one another. SPACE! ![]() Drama and Dance Students InvolvedAll students who performed worked hard and we were enthusiastic in our performance to the audience, who were suitably impressed. The audience took away the serious message that was presented. It was enjoyable to perform our dance that we had worked hard on during the half term. We were really pleased that our group was chosen to perform and we felt that we had done really well. It was a great experience to perform our dance in front of so many of our peers. |
