White Lodge Royal Ballet School students visit Hampton Academy

On Friday 25th March, 24 Year 10 students from The Royal Ballet School came to visit our Year 10 students at Hampton Academy. Both sets of students have been working on a joint project provided and led by The Royal Ballet School. The project has been working toward a joint piece of choreography. The students have been sharing ideas,  learning and leading one another; all part of the process of coming together to share experiences and good practice.

The students spent the day following the timetable below:

  •         White Lodge to arrive at HA for 11:00
  •         11:15-12:15 session 1 - Lisa Wasley - Building a bridge! Team building competition activity - in the Dance Studio
  •         12:15-13:15 session 2 - Claire McCormack — Drama (Ice breakers/Team building) - in the Theatre
  •          13:15-13:55 Lunch — provided by HA (HA students paired up with White Lodge students for lunch time/free time)
  •         13:55-14:55 session 3 - Lee Robinson - Salsa - in the Dance Studio

The idea of the visit is to learn about the differences in the education systems; meeting new people, team building, bonding activities and mixing with different children.

All students thoroughly enjoyed their day and all were inspired by the lessons they had from the Performing Arts Team. Thank you to Claire McCormack and Lee Robinson for their planning and delivery of lessons. Students from both schools have bonded well and have made good friendships.

As part of the project the Hampton Academy students have been working on creative material and rehearsing dance pieces ready for their performance at White Lodge on 20th and 21st May 2011.
